Colorado group uses musical talents to honor fallen

People gathered by the hundreds to honor fallen heroes in Old Colorado City on Monday.

Some servicemen and women even made a special stop at Territory Days to show their gratitude. A group of Army National Guard members traveled to Old Colorado City from Buckley Air Force Base to provide some live music for those in the area.

The 101 st Army winds is a group of about 35 service members across Colorado.

They meet one weekend a month to rehearse and play concerts. They told KRDO playing a concert for Memorial Day is the least they can do.

“We love working on Memorial Day. Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day, it’s all important. It’s an honor to serve and see those veterans out there. They cherish these days and it reminds them of times past. It’s very important,” said SFC Alisa Anderson with the Colorado National Guard.

The group continues their tour, making stops all across Colorado including Glenwood Springs and Florence.
