Grant money sought for police technology
Pueblo law enforcement agencies are applying for a grant that could give them more than $95,000.
The grant would be split between the police, sheriff and district attorney’s office, with police getting the biggest share.
The Justice Assistance Grant has been given to Pueblo law enforcement agencies for the past 12 years. The money has been used to buy new technologies that aren’t written into their budgets.
Deputy Chief Michael Bennett says the grant money is much-needed by the police.
“So a lot of the JAG money is used to replace antiquated computers. There’s also some officer safety equipment in there,” Bennett said.
The grant application needs to be approved by the Pueblo County commissioners and the City Council before it can be submitted.
