Fort Carson to honor fallen soldiers

Fort carson will honor soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty while deployed from the mountain post at a ceremony Thursday morning.

The Mountain Post Warrior Memorial ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in Kit Carson Park.

Major General Ryan R. Gonsalves, 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson commanding general, will be the keynote speaker at the event.

It’s the 12 th year the post has commemorated fallen soldiers from Fort Carson who lost their lives fighting overseas. A total of 387 names of fallen servicemembers are inscribed on the memorial stones.

The event is free and open to the public.

Visitors are asked to use Gate 1, located just off of Highway 115. From there, they will be directed to parking that will not require access to Fort Carson. No pets will be allowed at the ceremony with the exception of service animals.
