Tolls begin today on U.S. 36
Drivers taking the new express lanes on U.S. Highway 36 between Boulder and the Denver area have to pay more starting Wednesday.
Solo drivers have had to pay a toll to travel in the fast lanes on the first half of the expanded highway since last summer but now tolls are also in place for the Boulder to Broomfield stretch.
The tolls range from $1.75 and $9.35 depending on the time of day, the amount of traffic and whether drivers have a toll pass.
Carpoolers are exempt from the toll but need to have a transponder in their vehicle.
