Operation Homefront helps a Fountain family

The Safeway grocery store in Fountain got together with Eckrich to give a special gift to one military family.

The Huddleston family received free groceries for a year, but all members of the military were given treats from the store and company.

The Huddlestons told KRDO that the gift means a lot to them since they’ve added three grandchildren to their home.

Ronie Huddleston said, “What this means to us is a godsend that came at the right time that’s going to get our budget back on track.”

Officials from Safeway said that helping military families is something they look forward to.

Kris Staaf from Safeway said, “We’ve got lots of employees that are military, (so) it’s the right thing to do. We could have done this anywhere but it made sense to do it right here in Fountain.”

The company plans to hold more events like this one in the coming months.
