Bruce imprisoned in Caon City

Douglas Bruce is serving his probation violation sentence at the Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility.

Bruce was transferred to prison from the Denver County Jail earlier this month.

Prison records show that Bruce will be eligible for parole on October 9, 2016. His prison sentence is scheduled to end on October 9, 2017.

Bruce was convicted in 2012 of tax evasion, filing a false tax return and trying to influence a public servant.

Probation officers said he violated terms of a six-year economic probation sentence that required him to disclose his finances. Part of the violation, according to court documents, had to do with a real estate deal he made with Colorado Springs city council member Helen Collins.

Bruce lives in Colorado Springs, is a former state lawmaker and authored Colorado’s Tax Payer Bill of Rights (TABOR).
