Fountain Creek receives money

A $45,000 grant gets final approval from the Colorado Water Conservancy board for Fountain Creek.

The money’s supposed to be used to help prevent Fountain Creek from flooding into Pueblo.

The Fountain Creek Watershed Flood Control and Greenway District is looking at building a dam or a series of retention ponds.

Jane Rhodes, with the Fountain Creek district, says something should’ve been done years ago.

“The floods anymore are sooner. They’re not long time year floods,” Rhodes said. “They come, like I said, 20 years, 30 years, 2 years, 5 years.”

Fountain Creek projects will receive $50 million to help save Pueblo from flooding.
