Trump, Clinton win Florida, other states in critical mini-Super Tuesday; Rubio drops out of race
It’s a pivotal Tuesday night in the race for the White House.
ABC News projected Donald Trump the winner in the GOP Florida primary shortly after the polls closed.
The Trump win in Florida deals the final blow to Marco Rubio’s White House hopes. Rubio is the junior senator in the Sunshine State. He dropped out of the presidential race after the loss.
Gov. John Kasich defended home court in Ohio, defeating Trump.
Trump won in North Carolina and Illinois.
Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz are in a virtual tie in Missouri.
Hillary Clinton’s organization and ground game proved too good for Sen. Bernie Sanders
Clinton won big in Florida, Ohio and North Carolina. She scored a narrow victory in Illinois. A little after midnight Wednesday morning she was declared the apparent winner in Missouri.
Trump has 655 of 1,237 GOP delegates needed to win the nomination.
Clinton has more than 1,500 of the needed 2,383 to win the Democratic nomination.
