Inmate dies after collapsing at Fremont County Jail
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says that an inmate from Colorado Springs died after collapsing at the county jail.
Gregory Smith, 57, was working in the jail’s kitchen when he collapsed at around 10:30 a.m. on March 9.
Jail medical staff performed CPR until an ambulance arrived. Smith was taken to St. Thomas More Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy has been performed. Results are pending.
