Downtown Colorado Springs businesses seeing profit from St. Patty’s Day festivities
Downtown Colorado Springs businesses and bars say they racked up thousands of dollars in sales on Saturday, while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day a little early.
The Saint Patty’s Day 5k and parade always draw crowds for the occasion, and this year was no exception.
And more people inevitably means more money pouring into downtown.
“Between the parade day and St. Patrick’s Day, I typically do two weeks worth of sales in two days,” said Ari Howard, McCabe’s Tavern owner.
“A day like today will be a 60-70% increase over a normal Saturday,” added Phil Duhon, Oscar’s Oyster Bar owner.
With more people visiting bars for the Irish holiday, CSPD and the state patrol warn that they are upping patrols in the area as part of the Heat is On campaign.
The McDivitt law firm is offering free rides for party-goers the night of the 17th.
