People in Pueblo prepare for Mother Nature’s snowy wrath
Mother Nature is preparing to pack a punch of snow in southern Colorado, but when there was a break in the weather, people prepared for the winter storm.
Nancy Montoya is packing her vehicle with groceries, because she said she is no stranger to snowstorms in Pueblo.
“They are few and far between in Pueblo but I weathered them all,” she said.
She said she doesn’t want to be on the roads when it is snowing because it can get dangerous.
“The roads are always bad. There’s always cars spun off the road and I actually have been in a couple of accident where my car slid off the road,” Montoya said.
Pueblo snow plow crews are set to make the roads safer during the snowstorm. The city said it underestimated the last winter storm and this time around crews are preparing for the worst.
City spokesperson Debra Hill said most of the roads were pre-treated on Saturday and seven plows are set to hit the road when the snow starts.
C-DOT is also getting prepared. It has at least 30 crews ready with six to eight tons of sand-salt mixture.
As for Montoya, she said she’s going to try and not drive on the roads if it’s snowing. She said she’s happy to stay inside her home with the groceries she bought.
Pueblo snow plow crews do not plow the side roads.
