One dead, six displaced following Colorado Springs house fire

Colorado Springs police and fire crews are investigating a house fire.

Firefighters were called to the fire on Waddell Avenue, near Galley Road and Babcock Road, around 4 a.m. Firefighters say seven people were inside the home at the time of the fire, including one woman who died.

The Red Cross is helping the family who is affected by the fire. The identity of the woman has not yet been released.

“We can’t say until an autopsy is completed what the manner and cause of death were, but we are working with the fire department and marshals to investigate this,” said Lt. Catherine Buckley, CSPD.

“It’s an unfortunate situation anytime we lose someone. And that’s why we take it very seriously,” Buckley added.

Crews continue to look into the cause of the fire.
