Cat rescued after spending nearly a week stuck in a tree
A cat that spent more than five days stuck in a tree south of Colorado Springs was rescued Friday.
The cat was stranded high up a Cottonwood tree in a homeless camp in the Stratmoor Valley area.
The feline’s friends say it was chased up the tree by a coyote.
The Stratmoor Hills Fire Department said that firefighters tried to rescue the cat on Sunday, but their ladder wasn’t long enough to safely reach the cat.
A citizen-led effort to rescue the cat didn’t go any better Thursday. The would-be rescuers said the scaredy-cat was startled by them, prompting it to climb even higher in the tree.
The rescuers somehow managed to get the cat down Friday. They planned to take it to a vet to be checked out.
