Experts provide tips to avoid Broncos tickets scams
Tickets to watch the Denver Broncos play in Sunday’s AFC Championship sold out in 10 minutes on Monday and with tickets supply low, the production of fraudulent tickets is high.
Experts have tips to prevent buyers from losing money to criminals.
Don’t buy tickets off Craigslist: Avoid buying tickets off Craigslist and insteaduse reputable third party sites like NFL Ticket Exchange and StubHub. StubHub guarantees the validity of your ticket. Scammers can reproduce bar codes: Do not be fooled by a ticket that appears to have an authentic bar code. Bar codes are easy for scammers to recreate. Thoroughly check the ticket: If you decide to take the risk and buy tickets from a scalper or a Craigslist seller, look for tell-tale signs of fraud. Look for low-quality paperstock, smudgy printing and ragged or uneven margins. Always meet in person: If you buy the tickets offCraigslist, try to meet in person for the trade. Give a cashier’s check instead of a personal check to protect your bank account information. Ask for an account number: If you are buying a ticket from a season ticket holder, ask for their account number. The account number should be listed on the ticket. You can call the team or the ticket agent to verifythat the person has an account and tickets. Trust your gut: If the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Experts say if you can’t find tickets through reputable means, then avoid the hassle and take a front row seat on your couch for the game.
