Cadet sentenced on drug charges after guilty plea

An Air Force Academy cadet pleaded guilty Wednesday to several drug-related charges.

Cadet 3rd Class Nathaniel L. Penalosa was charged with illegal use, distribution and introduction on to a military base of LSD, Modafinil, and the drug “molly.” The acts are in violation of Article 112a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Penalosa pleaded guilty to all charges as part of a pre-trial agreement.

He was sentenced to 42 months confinement, dismissal (the equivalent of a dishonorable discharge for an officer or cadet) and total forfeiture of all pay and allowances. Due to the pretrial agreement with the convening authority, the confinement was capped at three years.
