Black Forest woman convicted of animal abuse will not get new trial
A Black Forest woman convicted of abusing animals will not get a new trial.
A judge denied Sherri Brunzell’s request for a new trial in a hearing Wednesday.
Brunzell was found guilty on eight counts of animal cruelty and acquitted of six other charges in May. The case started when a neighbor inadvertently discovered several horses living among carcasses in Brunzell’s barn.
She argued her horses were sick because of a poison in her feed, but a judge ruled Wednesday that Brunzell had plenty of time to argue that in her original trial.
Brunzell will now have to turn herself in for a 60-day jail sentence on Friday.
