Olympic swimmers give Colorado Springs kids a special lesson

Young Colorado Springs swimmers got a lesson from some special guests today at the Mutual of Omaha Breakout Swim Clinic, held at Cheyenne Mountain High School.

The 4-hour seminar is designed to teach kids the essentials of swimming, in and out of the pool.

The event featured Olympic athletes Allison Schmitt and Conor Dwyer, who shared their stories of overcoming the odds.

“To come and talk to these kids at a young age and hopefully maybe inspire them it could lead to them traveling the world like we’ve done and represent the United States of America,” said Dwyer.

“No matter what it is find the passion that you’re most passionate about and go fullheartedly towards it because if you have fun with it and love it that’s something that you’ re gonna succeed in,” said Schmitt.

The athletes will be training in Colorado Springs for a month total.
