Animal shelter manager chooses not to adopt out black cats or pit bulls during Halloween season

An animal shelter manager in Pueblo says black cats are in danger during the Halloween season.

Paws For Life Shelter Manager Linda Mitchell says it has a policy not to adopt out black cats from mid-October to early November.

She said she chooses this time of the year because she rather be safe than sorry.

“(Halloween) is the time for sacrifice and black cats seem to be one of the top things that people want to do their practices and rituals with,” she said.

The shelter also doesn’t adopt out pit bulls during this time of the year because Mitchell said October is usually when people harm the dogs.
