Black Forest woman convicted of animal abuse asks for new trial
The Black Forest woman convicted of animal abuse asked for a new trial.
Sherri Brunzell was convicted of eight counts of animal abuse in May after law enforcement found starving horses living among more than a dozen horse carcasses.
She was sentenced to sixty days in jail and five years probation.
But Brunzell’s defense attorney filed a motion for a new trial.
She will not serve jail time until the judge decides on the motion.
The hearing was continued Friday because Brunzell’s defense attorney was needed in another courtroom.
It will be taken up again on Nov. 4.
If the judge approves the motion, Brunzell will get a new trial.
If he denies it, she will be remanded to jail and the process will be over.
The prosecutor demanded Brunzell bring the paperwork for the horses’ adoptions when she returns on Nov. 4.
