Hemp oil company trying to hire as many people from Pueblo as possible

The CEO of a hemp oil processing company coming to Pueblo promises to hire as many people in Pueblo as possible.

The Pueblo Economic Development Corporation formally announced Thursday that CBD Biosciences will bring in 163 full-time jobs to Pueblo.

CBD Biosciences CEO Jose Martinez said he wants to give as many jobs to Puebloans as possible as long as they qualify.

Pueblo City Council agreed Monday to give CBD nearly $8 million to locate to Pueblo.

Councilman Chris Nicoll said he has concerns including that hemp is still classified as a Schedule One substance although it is legal in Colorado.

Martinez said his company is here to stay.

“No, I don’t think so, otherwise, I would not be taking the decision from the company to jump and create this company,” he said.

Martinez said he wants to make his company as transparent as possible.

The company would be located in the Airport Industrial Park.
