Egret regret: Bird flies the coop at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (updated)
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo says a cattle egret that flew out of its exhibit Tuesday evening has been found.
The zoo says high winds contributed to the bird’s escape and made it difficult for it to fly back.
It asked everyone to be on the lookout for the egret.
The bird was spotted on Cheyenne Mountain Resort grounds Thursday morning. It took a couple of hours and some tasty crickets to coax the bird down from its perch.
Upon his return, Zoo veterinarians examined him and have given him a clean bill of health. He is now back with his egret friends.
