Colorado Hosts GOP Debate
It was a lively night for the Republican presidential hopefuls in the left-leaning Republic of Boulder Wednesday night.
It was the third of eleven debates scheduled for the GOP-ers.
The ten heavyweights started the night cordially, and even, as Carly Fiorina showed, comically.
“After the first debate, I was told I didn’t smile enough,” Fiorina flashed a wide grin.
It didn’t last long before sparks began to fly, starting with Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio.
“Marco, you should show up to work. Is the Senate a French work week?” Bush pounced.
It wasn’t just the candidates sparring with one another; Ted Cruz, too, lambasted the media’s bias.
Marco Rubio then made a not-so-subtle reference to Donald Trump’s “small loan” from his father, amounting to $1 million.
“I didn’t inherit money,” said Rubio.
Mike Huckabee spoke about keeping social security benefits intact, stating, “It’s a matter of morality.”
Others, like Donald Trump, used the time to trump platform — in his case, illegal immigration.
“We will build a Great Wall with a big fat door. And guess who’s gonna pay for it? Mexico’s gonna pay, said Trump.
“[We will] get rid of all subsidies,” said Ben Carson. “It’s a bunch of crap.”
Then, Rubio, swung at Democratic front-runner, Hillary Clinton, in reference to the former Secretary of State’s testimony on Benghazi last week.
“It was the week she got exposed as a liar,” said Rubio.
According to a krdo.com poll, Donald Trump won Wednesday night’s debate (31%), followed by Ben Carson (18.6%) and Marco Rubio (13.4%), Ted Cruz (11.3%), John Kasich (9.8%), Carly Fiorina (4.1%), and Chris Christie (3.6%).
