UPDATE: State Patrol identifies victim in deadly motorcycle crash

Colorado State Patrol says it believes excessive speed is to blame for a deadly crash on the north end of Colorado Springs Tuesday.

The driver is 28-year-old Justin Aspuria, troopers said.

Aspuria was clocked at 101 mph just before the crash happened, troopers said. The motorcyclist hit an exit ramp sign at I-25 and North Gate Blvd.

The motorcyclist was southbound on I-25 before the crash.

State Patrol said Aspuria tried to take the Northgate Boulevard exit but missed a turn and hit a street sign.

The exit ramp was briefly closed but has since reopened.

Troopers said Aspuria was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
