Nurses have drive-thru flu shots to keep people healthy
A drive-thru is normally used to buy fast food, but a hospital in Pueblo is using a drive-thru for healthier reasons.
Parkview Medical Center had its annual Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic Thursday.
The hospital said it started the clinic to give people a cheaper and faster way to get flu shots for those in a hurry.
Pueblo County had its worst flu season last year. The Pueblo City-County Health Department said the virus mutated in the middle of the season, but it hopes this year’s vaccine will lower the amount of flu cases.
Parkview said the Center for Disease Control and Prevention put together a vaccine that will attack four different upper respiratory viruses.
Pueblo West resident Robert Gardner said he contracted the flu once and he never wants that feeling again.
“We absolutely try to get it early because it seems like if you are going to catch it seems to happen early on in the season,” he said.
Nearly 100 people got their shots at the clinic.
