Fort Carson welcomes home 240 soldiers Tuesday morning

Fort Carson welcomed home about 240 soldiers Tuesday morning.

The soldiers from the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division deployed in February 2015 to Southwest Asia in support of operations Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve.

A homecoming ceremony was held at the William Reed Special Events Center at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

KRDO was at the homecoming ceremony and spoke with Donia Simotas, a mother of triplets. Simotas was anxiously waiting for her husband Peter to come home after eight months. The last time Peter saw his kids, they were two months old. He said his children look much bigger, now at ten-months old.

A second group of 3rd ABCT soldiers is expected home Tuesday afternoon. A homecoming ceremony for about 55 soldiers will be held at 12:55 p.m.
