One hurt in early morning shooting in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police are investigating an early morning drive-by shooting.

It happened in the 2400 block of South Academy near the intersection of Astrozon Boulelvd and Jet Wing Drive on the city’s southeast side.

Officials say, one person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the back. The victim is expected to recover.

Police say the shots were fired from a vehicle heading westbound on Astrozon Boulevard. Two cars that were parked at a nearby parking lot were damaged in the shooting

Several shell casings were also found at the scene.

Police are looking for a white SUV in connection to the shooting.
