Family holds vigil and continues to search for answers in cold case
The family of Stephan Wilson held vigil on Sunday night to share memories and remind the public that his killer still hasn’t been caught.
Wilson was found dead Oct. 1, 2010, inside his condo on Delmonico Drive in Colorado Springs. Police said he was shot in the head. His killer hasn’t been caught.
“It’s the worst feeling, it’s like your heart just comes from your chest, calls from your stomach and just lies there, broken,” said Wilson’s mother Leslie Smith.
Smith continues to pray and check in with police to keep the search for answers alive.
“I am really surprised. I just thought that it would be solved by now,” said Leslie Smith.
His father David Smith said every day is a struggle.
“We pray every day that we can find the strength to make it through this terrible situation,” said David Smith.
His family gathered at Prospect Lake in Memorial Park. His family hopes talking about the case will trigger people’s memories so it can be solved. People wrote notes to Wilson, lit candles and sang songs.
His cousin Anthony Wilson said someone must be brought to justice.
“He didn’t deserve any of this. No one does,” said Anthony Wilson.
Leslie Smith said police have a person that they think may have killed Wilson, but they have never had enough evidence to pin it on that person.
