Hundreds in Avondale honor military veterans
Hundreds packed the sidewalks of Avondale to honor military veterans during the annual Boone, Avondale and Pueblo County Veterans Parade .
The Boone, Avondale and Pueblo County Veterans Association honored 11 veterans this year.
One of them is Vietnam War veteran Luis Ibarra.
“I lost a couple of members in my squad and it’s an honor to get this recognition on their behalf,” he said.
The parade wasn’t only meant for veterans, but for families to make floats or hold pictures during the parade to honor their loved ones who were in the military.
Christine Ruybal helped make a monument that honors her brother Danny Ruybal.
Danny Ruybal died while fighting in the Vietnam War.
“I miss him because I was younger than him. I didn’t have the chance to meet him and to grow with him,” she said.
This is the 13th year of the event.
