New policy could help students in Pueblo school district
Pueblo City School District 60 wants every student to graduate on time and in order to do that it is going to change the requirements to receive a diploma.
The district is proposing that a student going after a standard degree takes only three credits of math instead of four.
According to the Colorado Board of Education, D60 is below the state average for student graduation.
The school board will vote on Dec. 11 and if it passes this will go into effect in January.
The board said if the proposal moves forward then a student who is going after a standard degree can choose to take four credits of math but the fourth credit will count as an elective. A student can also choose to drop out of a math class and take another elective if they have fulfilled the three credit requirement for a standard degree.
