Pueblo Police Department hosts selfie contest

The Pueblo Police Department says the winner of its first ever PPD Selfie Contest will receive a prize package worth over $500.

Selfie enthusiasts are encouraged to interact with members of the Pueblo Police Department by taking time to snap a selfie with an officer.

The contest will run for close to 30 days beginning Wednesday November 5, 2014.

The department hopes the program strengthens its relationship with the public.

Officer Ben Muis said, “We’ve always had a relationship with the community but we want to make it positive. And to realize that you can come up to a police officer anytime and have a conversation whether it be the weather, whether it be problems or concerns in your community.”

RULES:

1. All entries must be of a positive nature (humor okay as long as it is not derogatory).

2. All photo entries must be uploaded to the Pueblo Police Department Facebook page for approval. Once approved, the selfie photo will be shared.

3. To be considered for a prize, participant must “like” the Pueblo Police Department Facebook page.

4. Selfie photos MUST NOT interfere with the officers in the course of their duties. (Please ask for permission which is at the discretion of the officer).

5. Final date to upload entries will be Tuesday December 2nd at 5 PM.

6. WINNER SELECTION: All entries will be judged on or about Wednesday December 3rd by a panel of judges comprised of Pueblo police supervisors, officers and community volunteers. The judges will score entries based on the following criteria: quality of photo, originality and creativity.
