UPDATE: Drive-by shooting in Pueblo injures two women

Two women were shot on the south side of Pueblo Sunday night (11/9/14) and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sgt. Frank Ortega said that at around 10:50 p.m., several people were on a porch on the 600 block of East Arroyo Ave. when someone in a lifted, black pickup truck approached and fired several shots, injuring two women. The neighborhood is near the Evraz Steel Mill.

Ortega said one woman was shot in the leg and the other was grazed in the chest. Ortega said the victims are not cooperating with police and were “targeted” by the shooter.

Police said one of the women who was shot is a 17-year-old who has been reported missing out of Los Angeles and had a warrant for her arrest. She was taken to Pueblo Youth Corrections.

A man who ran to assist the women following the shooting was arrested because police say he had a stolen gun. Humberto Pacheco, 26, was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center. He is facing charges for violating a restraining order and possession of a stolen handgun.

No arrests have been made in the shooting. Ortega said the incident does not appear to be gang related.
