Former teacher convicted of sexual assault on a child sentenced

A former teacher at Widefield High School who was convicted of three counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust was sentenced Monday morning (11/10/14).

Lee Riddle was sentenced to eight years to life in prison. He will be eligible for parole after eight years. If Riddle does get out of prison, he will be on parole for 20 years to life.

Riddle was arrested Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He pleaded not guilty on Monday, February 10, 2014.

The investigation into Riddle began November 15, 2013 when the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office received information about a possible sexual assault involving Riddle that happened at the school.

An arrest affidavit obtained by KRDO NewsChannel 13 in January, 2014 said Riddle grabbed the privates of male students during class, saying it was a game. The arrest papers also said Riddle sent inappropriate texts and asked students sexual questions.

Widefield School District 3 said Riddle taught German and sponsored a club volleyball team. He began working at Widefield in 2009.
