Marijuana legalization could hinge on tax approval
Marijuana tax rates and regulation are up for debate Friday in the Colorado House.
Pot legalization activists say there is also another effort underway in the state Capitol – an effort to possibly repeal marijuana legalization.
House members are scheduled to vote on a 30 percent pot tax and a separate regulation bill on how pot should be grown and sold.
Meanwhile, some lawmakers are considering an attempt to change the tax measure. The change would say that marijuana legalization would be repealed if the 30 percent taxes aren’t approved.
Expect a lot of intense behind-the-scenes negotiating in the legislature’s final few days over how to regulate and tax pot, and whether it’s possible to take legalization back to voters.
