Grand Junction bans recreational pot shops
Grand Junction has joined the list of Colorado cities that are banning the sale of recreational marijuana.
The Daily Sentinel reports that city councilors voted Wednesday night to ban sales as well as manufacturing, testing and cultivation of recreational marijuana.
Surrounding Mesa County has also passed a similar ban as have more than 50 communities and counties around the state, including Colorado Springs and Greeley.
Towns and cities have until Oct. 1 to decide whether to allow marijuana shops. After that, the state can start accepting applications for them.
