No new pot shops in Pueblo West

For the next two years no one will be able to open a retail marijuana shop in Pueblo County, unless they apply for a medical license by Monday. That’s when a new resolution that was passed by commissioners on Monday, will go into effect.

There’s another new set of rules for Pueblo West, where there will be no medical or retail licenses issued for two years. That means the number of store fronts in Pueblo West will not change.

The decision is a win for many living in Pueblo West, and the Pueblo West Metro Board, which urged commissioners to address the topic.

The new resolution takes effect next week, but if someone wants to open a retail store in Pueblo County, they need to have a medical marijuana application submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, August 8th.
