Widespread Facebook outage reported

If you were unable to access Facebook Friday, you weren’t alone.

The outage appeared to be widespread, with people all over the world taking to Twitter to let everyone know they were unable to access Facebook.

As of 10:34 a.m. MDT, the site was accessible again from the KRDO newsroom, but it was loading very slowly.

Facebook noted the trouble on a status site at 10 a.m., around the time that the at first sporadic outage began to snowball.

“Facebook is currently experiencing an issue that is affecting all API and web surfaces. Our engineers detected the issue quickly and are working to resolve it ASAP. We’ll update shortly,” the note read.

No update had been posted as of 10:47 a.m. MST.

The cause of the outage wasn’t immediately known.
