Tornado Reported Near Limon

Storms developed Wednesday afternoon and continued to strengthen along a line from Denver to Limon. These storms were strong to severe and prompted the National Weather Service to issue several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Tornado Warnings.

There were several reports of Tornadoes from these storms. There was a brief touchdown reported near Bennett around 4:00 p.m. with another tornado reported by law enforcement outside of Last Chance around 8:15 p.m.

At 10:30 p.m. there was an additional report of a tornado on the ground about four miles southeast of Limon. The storm barreled through Hugo, traveling at around 40 mph. While over Huge, a 111mph gust was reported.

There are reports of uprooted trees, downed power poles and some injuries in the city of Hugo.

This storm system continued to track toward the east keeping Tornado Warnings in effect for Cheyenne County through 1:00 a.m. There was a report of a tornado around 12:30 a.m. about four miles south of Cheyenne Wells, just east of highway 385.
