James Holmes’ lawyers want jury selection closed
Lawyers for the suspect in the Colorado theater shooting case want the entire jury selection process for his trial closed to the public and press.
During a hearing Thursday, James Holmes’ attorneys expressed concern that jurors could feel pressure to answer questions in a certain way if the process is kept open.
The defense says it’s also worried about jurors being harassed.
Prosecutors agreed that the individual questioning of potential jurors should be closed. However, they want the final round of proceedings, when 24 jurors will be chosen from a pool of 150, to be kept open.
The defense also wants that portion closed.
Media organizations plan to file an objection.
