US 6 over Loveland Pass reopens after mudslide

US Highway 6 over Loveland Pass has reopened following a mudslide.

A slide about 75 feet wide buried the highway east of the pass with 7 feet of debris on Tuesday. The road reopened Wednesday afternoon after crews were able to clear full grown pine trees, boulders and mud off the highway. Geologists also examined the area to ensure the slope was stable.

Colorado Department of Transportation spokeswoman Tracy Trulove says geologists determined heavy moisture content from snowmelt along the road contributed to the slide.
