Springs bookstore owner remembers Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou no doubt leaves behind an unforgettable legacy, and the author’s work is being remembered by people whose business is books. At Hooked On Books in Colorado Springs, Angelou’s books and poems fill the shelves.

Owner Mary Ciletti says Angelou championed womens’ rights and civil rights and made an imprint on mankind.

“She showed pride in herself, pride in her race, pride in her fellow man and just a celebration of life,” Ciletti said

Hooked On Books has more than a dozen of Angelou’s works on its shelves including a copy of “On The Pulse Of Morning,” the poem Angelou read at President Clinton’s inauguration in 1993.
