Mother’s Day Role Reversal

Mothers at a Pueblo church got a chance to relax today, while the men took the responsibilities of cooking and cleaning.

After the 8 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Help of Christian Church, the men had to hit the kitchen and cook and serve breakfast to the mothers.

“They’re paying us back,” said mother Bernice Krasovec.

“They get to see how hard it is and what we have to do,” said mother Eileen Krasovec-Perez.

Men serving moms on Mother’s Day is a tradition at the church.

“Mothers sacrifice so much for us. We don’t realize how much they really do for us,” said church member Tom Mutz.

For Jace Khosla, he’s happy to cook breakfast for the women in his life, just not every day.

“It’s a day to celebrate mothers, all of our moms, our grandma Mutz, she is the rock and the one who connects all of us. I love that I only do this once a year, I think everyone’s colon feels the same way,” he said.

The Mother’s Day breakfast has been going on at St. Mary’s for more than 60 years.
