Mother Nature’s gift impacts Mother’s Day Plans

Mother Nature’s gift Sunday impacted travel times and holiday plans.

Communities across Southern Colorado were hit with freezing temperatures and snow. People with Mother’s Day plans traded out gardening tools for snow shovels.

It snowed 8 inches in Woodland Park as of 9 p.m. Sunday.

BierWerks Brewery planned for a big crowd Mother’s Day. Instead, several patrons played board games among empty tables. It was the same story across the street at Ute Pass Brewing Company. Bother breweries said snow kept customers away.

“Normally, we have about 10 tables full ata time so it’s been a drastic change,” said Bierwerks Brewery server Claire Davison.

One mother said she changed plans on her special day because of the snow.

“Instead of going into town and you know, doing stuff in Colorado Springs, I stayed home I looked at the snow in a puzzled fashion,” said Jane Zimmerman.

She said she didn’t want to brave the weather without her snow tires. She took them off a few days ago.

Zimmerman said Sunday she has a question for Mother Nature.

“When is summer going to come?” said Zimmerman.
