Records broken at Special Olympics in Pueblo

State records were broken Saturday (5/10/14) at the Special Olympics of Southern Colorado in Pueblo.

Anderw Vidana broke a Special Olympics State record after dead lifting 510 pounds.

150 athletes competed today in everything from track & field to team sports.

Steve Higgens is the captain of his flag football team, and for the first time, his team are going to Nationals. ” The National game in Princeton, N.J, and since the Broncos can’t win in the Superbowl, team Colorado Crush will win in New Jersey, ” Higgens said.

Higgens said competing is about more than just winning for him, “I really like it, it makes me a good person and it helps me stay out of trouble.”

Michael Medina competed today in the long jump. “I was thinking, I could do it. I knew I could get first. I think I did well,” Medina said.
