Thousands of dollars worth of spice seized from Colorado Springs shop

Colorado Springs police seized more than seven pounds of synthetic marijuana, also known as spice, from a local smoke shop, and they are still searching for the owner.

The drug has killed three people and hospitalized more than 200 in Colorado.

Investigators received a tip saying spice was sold at Kiki Smoke, located at 1730 Monterey Drive. After a five-week investigation, police executed a search warrant and recovered 7.25 pounds of spice, worth more than $65,000.

There were 682 packages of the drug with names like Scooby Snax, Cherry Blast, Atomic and Honeymoon.

“The packaging is more like what you would see in the candy shelf in a store than you would anywhere else,” said Lt. Mark Comte, with Colorado Springs Police Department’s Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Unit. “So it’s really being packaged to appeal to a younger generation.”

Police are now searching for 50-year-old Alexander Kim. Investigators said this is the second investigation against him for selling spice.
