Proposed Manitou Springs Pot Shop Raises Concerns

You may soon be able to buy marijuana in Manitou Springs. Thanks to the city council, Maggie’s Farm is now one step closer to becoming a reality.

Tuesday (5/6/14), the Manitou Springs City Council voted 6 to 1 to approve a permit for its first retail pot shop.

Maggie’s Farm would be located on the east side of the city, on Manitou Avenue, near Loaf ‘N Jug. A high school student KRDO spoke to said the pot store should find another location. He is worried it will only bring in untrustworthy people.

“It’s not a great idea because many high school students from Manitou Springs come here for lunch, to get gas for their vehicle or just to meet friends,” said student Michael Ream.

There are still a few hoops Maggie’s Farm needs to jump through before opening, including being granted a license from the city, as well as the state of Colorado.
