Glendale police officer guilty in drug case

A former suburban Denver police officer has pleaded guilty to federal charges involving help he gave a drug suspect.

Scott T. Black, 39, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the suspect in federal court Friday. Investigators say the former Glendale officer searched federal databases that law enforcement officers routinely use to check criminal records for information to help another man, Oscar S. Garcia, who has been charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute.

A grand jury indictment doesn’t say what Garcia allegedly did with the information the searches yielded, or why Black helped Garcia.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors withdrew charges against Black that included lying to an FBI agent.
