Local cat rescue celebrates 500th adoption

A cat named Nick became the 500th feline adopted in two years at Happy Cats Haven, a cat rescue organization in southwest Colorado Springs.

The rescue is at 1412 South 21st St.

Nick was found on the street by an intern at the Olympic Training Center. He was thin and malnourished but recovered under the rescue’s care.

The nonprofit rescue finds and cares for abandoned cats until new owners are found. Donations help pay for expenses.
