Questions amidst sudden King’s Deer Golf Course foreclosure
A Monument golf course community may be losing its golf course.
The King’s Deer Board of Directors announced via email last week that the King’s Deer Golf Course is closed, effective immediately. The bank that services the golf course’s loan in Kearney, Neb. is foreclosing on the golf course, according to the notice.
Residents of King’s Deer told KRDO NewsChannel 13 they were surprised to learn of the foreclosure. Most thought the course had been doing well since it opened in 1999.
“The golf course has been busier lately,” said Larry Osgood. “All of us thought things were going better. New memberships were being sold.”
In fact, new membership specials were advertised in February’s King’s Deer Kronicles newsletter. One woman told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that she just signed up as a golf club member last week. Now, she wonders what will happen to her membership fees.
In the board of directors’ notice, the board apologizes for the new member advertisements and calls the situation “unfortunate” and an “unexpected turn of events.” No other details were given.
KRDO could not reach the homeowner’s association or golf club owners Monday due to the President’s Day holiday.
A bank representative will hold a community meeting to address the foreclosure on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Tri-Lakes United Methodist Church, at 20256 Hunting Downs Way.
