Pueblo County ex-deputy acquitted in assault case

A former Pueblo County sheriff’s deputy has been acquitted on all charges against him, including kidnapping, sexual assault, menacing, tampering with evidence and third-degree assault.

Randall Scott Alire was accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and sexually assaulting her in 2012. He was acquitted on Tuesday.

Alire was accused of holding the woman at gunpoint for nearly seven hours and sexually assaulting her. Alire maintained the sex was consensual.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports Alire was on medical leave from the sheriff’s office for a shoulder injury and said he was in Colorado Springs for a doctor’s appointment. He said the alleged victim approached him that afternoon and they then had consensual sex.
