Saving energy at Colorado College
Energy use is a big expense for a business.
Senator Mark Udall went to Colorado College Monday to see how they use as little energy as possible.
The senator toured the campus to see how it captures and re-uses heat. It’s part of an effort to turn the college into a net zero campus.
That means that the college would be totally self-sufficient when it comes to energy, and would do it in a way that emits no carbon into the atmosphere.
Senator Udall says that despite a divided Congress, a few small steps could win support from both parties.
He said, “what we ought to do is to make sure that the tax code (incentivizes) conservation. Provides some benefits from saving energy. We also ought to make sure that we get the production tax credit for wind energy extended.”
Senator Udall is on the energy committee.
